As a young girl, drawing and painting were big hobbies. Being the daughter of a father whose profession was both as a window display designer and also a teacher of handcrafts and calligraphy, as well as being an artist/painter, and a mother teaching creative needle-art, Jolanda was born with creative expression in her blood, as well as her love for teaching. Even as a small 5-year-old girl, she knew someday she would be a teacher. After secondary school she was certain and a teaching degree was the next logical step. Besides her teaching internship, the hours of drawing and art history were the nicest hours of the week. The passion for art always stayed, and can and has been combined with traveling, during which museum visits are always high on the wish list. Jolanda has received many impressions from other artists and her favorite artists use a lot of color. Jolanda sees life as a palette full of color and everything happening in life, every emotion and mood, gives that palette its own colors. Her purpose is to fill life with color, to inject and infuse color into an often hard grey world. Being the mother of three children only added to the richness of Jolanda's life color palette. "Colors make the world vivid. They give you the feeling that life sparkles with activity. They give positive energy. They show that life has a meaning, is worth living and enjoying!" The intense use of colors by Jolanda is a direct reflection of this life vision.
